Series 2: Tips for Professional Cleaners. Tip 8 – ETIQUETTE

This tip is about etiquette.

This is something I think really adds a lovely final touch to your service!

When I arrive to a client’s property I always make sure that I have indoor and outdoor shoes. I put outdoor shoes neatly by the front door or outside if there is a porch. If the clean is a particularly long one, I will also bring my own flask in case I want to have a cup of tea, and my own water bottle to keep me hydrated.

If it is at all possible it is always best not to use your client’s items for your own use. If you do happen to have a cup of tea out of a client’s cup, always make sure that you put it in the dishwasher if there is one, or wash it and put it away.

There is nothing worse than a client coming into a beautifully clean home and they have to wash up your cup after you! Many times my clients have said – “This is what my previous cleaner used to do and it is just annoying!” It is really important to eliminate such annoying things and make sure your client has that “Wow” experience when they walk in.

I would also like to mention that when we are cleaning we use cloths and sponges and one of the biggest complaints that my clients have about their previous cleaners is that they leave cloths everywhere and leave the products out – so when they come home they have to put them away. That is not best practice – on a final check always make sure you have removed all cleaning equipment and put it away correctly.
