
You’ve probably noticed when you stay in a hotel that the end of the toilet roll has been folded into a neat little triangle.
I looked into why this is done. It’s to give an indication that the room has been cleaned and that the housekeeper has been into the bathroom. You can think of it as the housekeeper leaving their mark to give the customer peace of mind that their space has been cleansed.
It’s also supposedly to make it easier for you to open the toilet roll. Rather than fumbling around trying to tear the beginning of the toilet roll evenly (we know how that can go), housekeepers fold it into a “pointy” to save you the trouble.
